I want to be a local television host, but I don't know where to start.?

Luke Gacusan: Yes, you must go to college if you even want a shot. You will then probably have to start of as a local journalist after you get your degree from college. In other words, you'll have to work your way to the top. It's not easy. Most television host where I live, were once news people on the local news first.Maybe you could start off at a local community college first and then transfer on to a four year university.

Bennie Lantgen: You could go to college (university or otherwise) for the arts/acting/film etc. Maybe try creative writing and public speaking courses as well. Entering the entertainment (TV/Film) industry will require starting at the bottom, with or without a degree. Learn other skills like camera and editing. An on-camera reporter will need those skills too. Public Access TV is a good place to start right away to get more experience in front of the camera. Heck, you could even make up your own shows and upload them to YouTube. Whether you're! serious about a degree or not, you could start off in local television to gain experience, make industry connections and to help pay the bills. Many stations don't require much experience for entry-level positions. There are many ways to enter this industry. To give you a better idea about how it all works, the web page below has a series of free-to-read articles to help you plan a career in this industry. Just remember, you probably will not start off in front of the camera. That's why it's important to learn different skills.TV Film & Video Careershttp://www.whatnots.cc/ac_articles.html#tv_careerHope this helps, and good luck!...Show more

Peter Lapoint: Make your own public television show! At school or at your local public access station You can probably just apply for a membership, make your own shows, and play it on air. People will see it, and you will get yourself out there. It's the best way to promote yourself! If nobody calls you, it may mean you're not th! at good. If u do a good job, people will call! I know a person! who does that, but he only did shows for the immigrant communities, but he got calls to make shows for organizations. Also, some people got their foot in the door that way...I think that's how Tom Green did it. You can always just try to work your way up the ladder and hope somebody notice you, or get notice now by doing your own show....Show more
