William Vickerman: Hi there. As you are probably aware, the primary survey - A airway, B breathing, C circulation , S severed bleeding (as this can be life threatening) are the main concern. After that there has to be a secondary survey to find out - provided all the above are OK - whether the patient is conscious, and if so, at what level, full, in and out of consciousness etc, verbal stimuli (do they respond when spoken to), painful stimuli (do they move or feel pain - usually by pinching the earlobe). These first and second survey are very important as when the patient arrives at hospital, the staff there need to know these things as it isimportant to the way they treat the patient....Show more
