Questions about global warming?

Particia Thorton: Climate change will not affect your every day activities. The oceans are heating up, not your backyard.

Olin Hallin: No.

Elissa Curlin: REGARDLESS OF BELIEFS the earth is overheating it is caused by carbon dioxide and the climate is changing. We are not helping it either by burning fuels polluting etc so so what if companies are marketing going green its not gonna hurt any, i'd rather not get cancer by breathing all these toxins wouldn't you?

Clement Viscarro: Yes, it exists. The big question seems to be whether or not human activity (specifically the production of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide) is creating the problem, accelerating a natural cycle, or if the change in global climate is entirely natural. To me, this sounds like arguing about whether or not the fire in your house was deliberately set or an accident rather than actually dealing with the fire. Natural or man-made, we'll be just as dead. I'm thinking it's well pas! t time we started actually making plans for what we're going to do when glaciers and ice caps melt, raising ocean levels and inundating the incredibly populous coastal cities we've gone and built all over the map. We also might want to take a look at what effects it might have on crop production, fishery stocks and other climate dependent processes that we use to feed ourselves. What exactly do we do if droughts and warm weather cause global failures of rice and wheat crops three years in a row? Disease proliferation is another major concern. Malaria was once common all the way up the Ohio river valley and up into Canada. It won't take much to allow it to spread north again, just a two day extension of the development season that will allow the Plasmodium parasite to conquer North America again. Other diseases could also easily spread with warmer climates. Sure, it's a good idea to cut down on our greenhouse gas emissions. I don't think anyone rational can possibly argue th! at their actually doing anyone or anything any good. However, ! I think it's more important that we start planning on what we're gonna do if things really start to heat up....Show more

Cliff Jacoby: Have you ever heard of an Ice Age? They happen about every 10,000 years. After each one the Earth begins to slowly warm itself. When it gets too hot, an Ice Age occurs, and the Earth freezes a lot quicker than it warms up. That's all that's happening right now. It's got nothing to do with car exhaust and chemical plants. The Earth isn't going to burn up, but the next Ice Age could come at any time. We won't all survive, but some of us will.

Mee Blumenfeld: global warming is a great marketing strategy, making a lot of money for some people.the earth was supposed to end, a few weeks ago..but the people made$22M from it.

Anibal Scheid: It's been proven by thousands of scientists that global warming is a load of crap, there was a recent thing where near 30000 scientists signed a petition disproving global warming and the! n sued Al Gore for fraud or w/e. The earth isn't dieing any time soon and neither are the polar ice caps (oh some are melting well guess what? it's ice, it always melts then refreezes...).Also carbon dioxide (which some say causes global warming) is not a pollutant. Trees breathe in carbon dioxide and release oxygen so it can't be that bad...Al Gore did that crap for money. Google it....Show more

Granville Stray: It shouldn't affect your daily activities unless the government decides it will affect global warming, which shouldn't happen anytime soon.Global warming is going down because an Ice Age will soon be here because the earth goes through natural cycles that last about 10,000 years. Simply, this cycle involves the earth heating up, then cooling off into an Ice Age.It may affect your careers because people might see certain parts of it contributing to climate change, but other than that nothing will change.I think global warming is exaggerated, because (here in A! ustralia) we are going to be taxed for carbon emissions, but the govern! ment is not doing anything to develop a new form of clean energy, so I think it's just a chance for the government to tax us....Show more

Jorge Detlefs: Yes it will,we are very close to the point where you will catch fire if you go outside.
