Nadia Crauswell: Yes he's pulling a speedy one on you. The V5C is a report used to inform the DVLA of a difference of steady keeper. he does no longer deliver you the log guide (V5C) while you purchase the auto. He demands to fill in constituents 6, eight and 10 and there's a situation so that you can signal in facet eight. He then offers you facet 10 referred to as the brand new keeper complement that is then your transitority log guide. He, no longer you, then sends off constituents a million to eight to the cope with at the inside correct web page in an effort to then permit the DVLA to ship you a brand new V5C to your title. Unless your "mate" is joking I could inform him in which to stay his auto. The V5C isn't even his to promote and failing to make use of it to inform the difference of keeper is a crook offence....Show more
Jacques Teri: i think my initial question is a bit confusing, so here goesi already know NOT to buy a vehicle without a log book, my ques! tion is when the current owner applies for a new log book is all the old history in the new log book.the owner has all mot history already, and is happy for any checks to be made on the vehicle
Betsey Muehlbach: Do not buy the car without the logbook! Basically the logbook (V5C) is the most important document. It's not proof of ownership but it proves who it responsible for taxing the vehicle. See here:http://buyerbeware.direct.gov.uk/v5c/index.htmlYou need to be aware of fake logbooks. Make sure you get the new type (red) one. Also check the logbook make sure the VIN number matches up to the car and the number of previous owners should be listed. After you have seen the logbook, also do a MOT history check. Its free online and shows you all previous MOT dates and whether it passed or failed. It also lets you see the mileage record over the years (since 2005 I think):http://motinfo.direct.gov.uk/internet/jsp/ECHID-In...Finally do a MyCarCheck aswell. Its always worth ! the £10. You will be surprised how many cars out there have b! een recorded as stolen/previous accident/outstanding debt. Anyway, don't want to scare you but these are all standard checks to do when you buy a car and make sure to take someone experienced to drive the car and make sure gearbox/clutch are ok and no oil leaks....Show more
