Why should I or not get the 67,500 Mile Maintenance that my dealership is requesting on my 2011 car?

Luther Plagmann: It's mostly to maintain the warranty and resale value. Some (not sure if it's all) new car warranties require a certain maintenance schedule to check major components and replace fluids. You don't have to do the maintenance at the dealership, but if you don't, you'll have to keep a maintenance log and the receipts for all the work done. If all the maintenance is done at the dealership, you wouldn't have to do that, since they'd keep records of past maintenance and repair work.It makes it easier to get stuff done under warranty without hassle, and it enhances the resale value later when you sell it if you can prove that you've kept the car maintained rather than just running it into the ground....Show more

Jinny Dronen: You have a 2011 car and it has 67,000 miles on it?

Marna Liddie: I would say it depends. Are you going to keep the car for a long time? And what exactly do they want to do? I would say if you are going to keep it talk with your! mechanic who is not for the dealer and find out what he would do. He should tell you what you need and do it for much much cheaper. If you plan to sell the car in the next couple of years never mind.

Willie Tun: "JJ" - I drive a 2011 Dodge Caravan with 110,000 miles on it ! ! I would advise having the service done to maintain your warranty. This is also an excellent opportunity for the dealer to find issues with your vehicle that might be missed on a casual walk around of your vehicle.
