Virgil Loatman: I think since your TV is CRT (old), it only probably has RCA (A/V) inputs and no outputs. What your friend is telling you is probably that you'll need to connect your audio outputs to the HT inputs and the video output to the TV's input. For example, you want to watch a movie with a DVD player: the DVD video output (yellow cable) goes to the TV and the audio outputs from the DVD ( red and white cables) go to the home theater system. You'll see through the TV and hear through your HT.Also, depending on your receiver, you may be able to connect all your devices (DVD, DTV, etc.) with just one video output going to the TV from the receiver. In the end, it will come down to the ports you have available in your TV and receiver, and how many devices you will connect to your system. Hope this helps......Show more
