FAFSA financial aid question?

Dexter Dicostanzo: The school will actually determine your award. It can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks after the semester starts to receive your refund check and your award is split between semesters (so if you are awarded $5,000 in grant money, you'll receive ~ $2,500 each semester). The school will first pay your tuition, fees, books, etc. and then you'll receive a check for anything that's left over. Does your town not have any public transportation that you can use? Can you find a job within walking distance or ride a bike? You can use leftover money for a car; however, you have to claim your grant refund on your taxes (and pay money) if you use it for a non-approved item (the IRS website has a list of approved expenses for grant money)....Show more

Jodie Capella: Wow I thought I was getting alot - I am on my own, have 2 kids (dependents) and am not married, nor am I employed. How am I getting less than you???Yes if you get a job this will affect your financial ! aid. Go to the school and meet with your financial aid counselor. They can give you more info on policies and how this will affect the amount that you receive....Show more

King Bringle: Probably not, your income is still going to be pretty low and your parents aren't going to be able to qualify for PLUS loans.

Troy Staton: More then likely not because if your making minimum wage and only working part time you will still be eligible for the fafsa money. I work 2 part time jobs and I still get about the same amount per semester as you do. You gotta make alot of money in order to not qualify.
