Frank Gazaway: Some people put real effort into relaxing. :D
Agustina Stimmel: A hobbie is what you do regularly to spend your time, so I don't think dieting, surfing the web and relaxing are, but the rest can be in some views.
Arnette Dominici: I agree with you. I tend to think of a hobby and something you do when you are bored but that you can collect, improve at, benefit from. These are things to do but not hobbies. Not everything online is true.
Patricia Bolduc: Those are all pastimes that can turn into hobbies. For example, just watching movies to kill a few hours between work and sleep is not a hobby. But watching movies, actively pursuing knowledge about specific actors or genres, perhaps collecting, and overall becoming educated about certain aspects, is what makes someone a hobbyist. It's about development and learning as the pursuit, the objective, not merely as the byproduct of killing some time.
Patrick Bitsui: The merriam-webster dicti! onary defines a hobby as a pursuit outside one's regular occupation engaged in especially for relaxation. Sounds like most of these items fall into that category. I always thought of a hobby as anything (these activities included) as anything you enjoy doing in your spare time for fun or relaxation. These can fall into that category. I have lots of hobbies. Some are crafty like crochet and knitting etc. Others are collecting: such as one would collect stamps. They both completely different but both hobbies. I guess everyone has their own opinions. but I love to read and consider that a hobby too....Show more
Clinton Quant: lol! those are so not hobbies
